| Green Gables Cabin Project
For a number of years, the Sponsors Committee has discussed the possibility of adding a new cabin at Story Book. After prayer and many ideas and plans, the Sponsors Committee approved the plan to replace the Green Gables cabin with a new structure in the same location. The original Green Gables cabin (photo on right) had hundreds of campers spend the night in it's tiny structure. The cabin only held 6 campers in it's cozy quarters.
Construction began on the new Green Gables this spring as crews removed the old structure and cleared a few trees to allow the new cabin to be started. Crews poured the foundation this summer. During late summer and into the fall, volunteers have been putting together the rest of the cabin.
Update 10/22/07: This past weekend Harry U. and Tim W. were here for Fall Retreat. They put on two thirds of the green corrugated steel roofing. Both doors are on and the many windows are in. When completed, those in this cabin will have a great view of the Lord's beautiful woods & lake at Story Book Lodge Christian Camp!
Update 11/4/07: New photos of the progress below! The Green Gables has all the windows and doors installed and the roof is done in a green metal. Myron V. has done much of the carpentry along with Corey M. and Tim W. Harry U. is installing a gas furnace and Tim M. is doing the electrical. With the exterior sufficiently covered now for the winter, some will continue to work on the interior as funds are provided.
